V-COM

Virtual serial communication module IEX - RS232 / RS485

Model number: V-COM
Mounting: DIN rail, 2M, 36 mm

Applications

  • Connecting field devices to cabinet ones

General description

V-COM is an IEX-2 communication module that provides virtual serial ports (RS-232 / RS-485) for Cybro controllers. It allows PLC programs to communicate with external devices through virtual COM interfaces while maintaining the same programming logic as physical ports.

The module connects to the IEX-2 bus and provides galvanically isolated communication with external serial devices.

Features

  • Virtual serial port for PLC communication
  • RS-232 and RS-485 interface
  • Galvanic isolation between bus and communication port
  • Compatible with Cybro controllers
  • Multiple virtual COM ports available (COM6 – COM9)
  • LED indicators for transmit and receive activity
  • DIN-rail mounting

Technical Specifications

Parameter Value
Communication interface RS-232 / RS-485
Virtual ports COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9
Baud rate 2400 – 115200
Added latency ~100 µs per byte
Galvanic isolation 1 kV
RS-232 cable length up to 10 m
RS-485 cable length up to 1000 m
Power supply 24 V DC (18–28 V)

232 and 485 ports are functionally identical. Outgoing messages are transmitted on both ports, incoming messages are received from either port.

IEX-2 terminals are used when module is installed outside the distribution board, or for connecting external devices to the board.

Typical usage

Up to 4 fully independent ports

Single virtual port with multiple devices

Bus Connection Cable

  • The product includes a 2.5 cm RJ9-to-RJ9 bus cable (Order code: CAD-P0) for connection to controllers, allowing the units to be linked together.
  • Longer cable versions are available under order codes CAD-Px.
